About Libya

Libya extends over 1,759,540 square kilometers (679,362 sq mi), making it the 16th largest nation in the world. Libya is washed by the Mediterranean sea in the north. It is neighboring Tunisia and Algeria in the west, Niger in the southwest, Chad in the south, Sudan in the southeast, and Egypt in the east. Libya’s coastline of 1,770 kilometers (1,100 mi) is the longest among other African countries bordering the Mediterranean.
